About Me
I'm Anne Crosby: functional nutrition practitioner, former D1 runner, and founder of Balanced Ascent, my virtual 1:1 practice.
I live in Boulder, Colorado with my husband and two children and can often be found on one of Boulder's many trails.
My Background
A former D1 distance runner, I stopped running competitively because I reached a point where I felt exhausted before I even started a run or workout. Years later, I discovered athletic burnout wasn't a permanent state; focused replenishment and healing digestion at the root (the same process I use for clients) brought back energy I didn't even know I was missing. These days I’m excited to be back to trail running and racing regularly.
I always thought I was healthy (I ate vegetables!). A pregnancy complication linked to micronutrient deficiency inspired me to study nutrition - and made me aware that thinking you’re “doing everything right” isn’t always enough.
My study eventually went deep into functional testing, which brought precision to my work. Real food as the foundation, targeted supplementation where the data supports it, and real functional testing data so every recommendation has a reason.
